Chilean riot police stormed a university campus in Santiago and arrested more than 400 people in the second day of protests against the regime of President Augusto Pinochet, an army general who came to power in a 1973 coup. Two people were shot to death and eight were wounded as street clashes continued into the night. Police placed the total of arrests in two days at more than 600. Most of those arrested on the campus were reported to be students, and officers said they will be released after their identities are checked.
