Sen. Edward Zorinsky (D-Neb.) said he is considering undergoing a surgical procedure to improve the flow of blood to his heart.

Zorinsky, who will be 57 today, recently suffered severe chest pains and spent five days in George Washington University Hospital in Washington.

Zorinsky said Saturday he would confer with his doctors about angioplastic surgery, in which a small, balloon-like device is inserted into a coronary artery and then inflated to clear blockage.
