Bus Plunge Kills 11

POINTE-A-PITRE, Guadeloupe —
Eleven people were killed and 26 injured Sunday when a bus missed a turn on a steep mountain road in this French Caribbean territory and plunged 60 yards into a ravine, police said. Police said the brakes apparently failed as the bus carrying mostly elderly passengers took a tight turn.
