William Carns Jr., believed to be the last victim of the so-called Night Stalker serial killer will need five years of physical therapy before he can resume a normal life, his parents say. Carns, 30, a computer engineer from Mission Viejo, is recovering but needs extensive rehabilitation at Saddleback Community Hospital in Laguna Hills for partial paralysis caused by three gunshot wounds in the head and neck. Carn’s parents, Anne and William Carns Sr. of North Dakota, were visiting their son and attending a weekend benefit football game for him between Saddleback Community College and Citrus College. They said the outpouring of support from Orange County residents has helped them overcome the “terrible trauma” of the Aug 25 nighttime attack by an intruder who also raped Carns’ fiancee. Richard Ramirez, 25 has been charged with 15 Night Stalker slayings ----14 in Los Angeles and one in San Francisco.
