Free agent pitchers Ken Forsch and Geoff Zahn were among five injured players reinstated from the Angels’ emergency disabled list, the club announced Tuesday.

Forsch, recovering from arm surgery, and Zahn, rehabilitating a shoulder injury, were eligible to apply for free agency but elected not to during the 15-day filing period, which ended Monday. They can still become free agents if the Angels do not offer them new contracts before Dec. 20. The Angels are expected to extend both pitchers invitations to spring training.

Other players reinstated to the 40-man roster were infielder Rick Burleson and pitchers Alan Fowlkes and Frank LaCorte.

--Purchased the contracts of infielder Bill Merrifield and outfielder Reggie Montgomery from Midland (Double-A).

The Angels’ winter roster is currently at 38 players, including four free agents: pitchers Donnie Moore and Don Sutton, outfielder Juan Beniquez and infielder Bobby Grich.
