SuperSonics Meet With Nixon’s Agent

Share

While the Clippers were losing to Seattle SuperSonics and losing guard Derek Smith in the process with a knee injury, SuperSonic General Manager Lenny Wilkens met with Norm Nixon’s agent in what might be the first step in tendering Nixon an offer sheet.

“It looks good,” said Tom Collins, Nixon’s agent. “We’re trying to figure out how to do it. But Seattle wants Norm. They want to do it.”

However, after losing Smith for an as yet undetermined time, Coach Don Chaney lobbied with Clipper management to sign Nixon--immediately--and also for Nixon to give a little and return.

“We need Norm, a player who can carry the team. Management has to know that,” Chaney said. “Maybe we also can get some compassion from Nixon to come back here right away.”

Clipper General Manager Carl Scheer said he is willing to meet with Collins as soon as possible.
