Campbell Soup said its revenue and net income for the first quarter of its 1986 fiscal year increased 8% and 11%, respectively. The company reported that unit volume was up 4% and that the operations of recently acquired Continental Foods, a European producer of sauces, mayonnaise, confectionaries and other food products, accounted for half of the volume increase. Total first-quarter marketing expenses increased 20% over the previous year.
