LOS ANGELES COUNTY - News from Nov. 18, 1985

Capital Guardian Trust, Los Angeles, announced several appointments that will take effect in January.

Richard C. Barker has been elected president, succeeding R. Michael Shanahan, who will become vice chairman and chairman of the executive committee of both Capital Guardian Trust Co. and Capital Research & Management Co. Shanahan will also continue as president of Capital Group Inc., the parent company of the Capital organization.

Additionally, Robert B. Egelston, chairman of the Capital Group, will assume the additional title of vice chairman of Capital Guardian Trust Co.

James F. Rothenberg has been elected executive vice president and a director of Capital Guardian Trust and will also assume the role of director of research for Capital Guardian’s research unit.
