Avalon : Minimum Room Size Set

The City Council approved an amendment to the municipal code setting the minimum size of hotel, motel and boarding house rooms at 190 square feet, of which no less than 35 square feet must be used for a private bathroom. The city previously had no minimum rquirements for such rooms. The majority of the city’s 779 rooms in 27 hotels are larger than 190 square feet, said Kathy Bond Hiatt of the city planning department, but some are smaller.
