Plans for a $1.5-billion pipeline were canceled.

Joint Venture Pipelines Co., an Omaha-based subsidiary of HNG-InterNorth Inc., announced cancellation of plans for a pipeline that would have carried Canadian natural gas to the Northeastern United States. Henry said the decision was made partly because demand has turned out to be less than expected. Part of the project may be built in a scaled-down version, President William A. Henry said. The decision by Joint Venture Pipelines and ANR Pipeline could slow the growth of natural gas sales from Alberta, Canada, to the Northeast, spokesmen for both governments said.
