DON JOHNSON: STILL HOT . . . BUT NOT SMOKING

Don Johnson has shed his vice.

Outtakes has learned that he’s quit smoking. “He hasn’t had a cigarette since early October. He went cold turkey,” said a source close to “Miami Vice.”

Johnson will officially bid adieu to his smokes in an upcoming (yet to be filmed) episode, revealed the source.

This comes several months after we reported the American Cancer Society was none too thrilled by the fact that Johnson chain-smoked throughout his hip series: “We applaud him--and we wish him all good luck in continuing to go smokeless,” said Susan Islam, ACS director of broadcast relations in NYC. “We’re pleased with every effort to quit. But in the case of Johnson, well, he’s such a strong role model--especially for teen-agers. We think his example is going to influence a lot of people.”
