An ammonia leak at the Banquet Frozen Foods plant in Turlock sent 16 people to a hospital and caused an evacuation of some homes in the vicinity of the plant, police reported. Fourteen of the victims were treated and released at a nearby hospital, and the two remaining were reported in serious condition from breathing the fumes. The victims were not immediately identified. Residents were quickly allowed to return to their homes after the leak was controlled.
