No Gannett Merger, Time Says

Time Inc. said today it is not interested in merging with Gannett Co. Inc. but confirmed that the subject was raised when executives of the two media giants conferred privately last week.

“Yes, our people did meet with Gannett, and the talks were really about a wide variety of subjects,” Time spokesman Louis J. Slovinsky said. He said a merger was one of the subjects, but he described it as a minor part of a larger discussion.
