Anti-war activists Philip, Daniel and Jerome Berrigan and eight others were charged with trespassing at an Air Force base Thursday to mark an attack by protesters two years ago on a B-52 bomber, authorities said.

Father William M. Cuddy, a Roman Catholic priest from Syracuse, also was charged, said Sgt. Ricky Fritz, a spokesman for Griffiss Air Force Base.

Fritz said that about 30 people demonstrated outside the base northeast of Syracuse and that 11 demonstrators walked on to base property and were detained when they refused to leave. Those detained were issued letters banning them from the federal grounds, he said.

Four of the protesters, including Cuddy and Jerome Berrigan, later returned and were charged with an additional trespass count.

All 11 were scheduled to appear in federal court in Syracuse on Monday, Fritz said.
