Ethel Coffman of Santa Ana takes care of her apricot tree, grapevines and most of the yardwork, including mowing the small patch of grass with an old-fashioned push mower.
Not bad for a woman who was just honored at her 90th birthday party last month. “Ronnie and Nancy sent me a birthday card,” she said. “And so did the governor.”
The party was hosted by Goodwill Industries of Orange County, one of her favorite activities, considering that she has been president of its women’s auxiliary for the past 15 years.
“Nobody else wants to do it,” she said. “They’re all timid people, I guess, but they’re all loyal.”
