Brink’s Inc., one of two companies hit by an armored transport industry strike, is advertising for new guards and drivers. The company’s advertisement, which offers starting salaries of $8 an hour, appears in the classified section of today’s Times. A Brink’s spokesman confirmed that the company is hiring permanent employees, but refused to comment on the strike. About 120 members of the Armored Truck Employees Assn. walked off their jobs last week after Brink’s refused to recognize their union. Robert Brodie, the union president, said Brink’s current salary offer is about $2 an hour higher than the pre-strike wage--$6.75 per hour for new drivers and $6 for starting guards.
