More than 2,700 homes in Rancho Palos Verdes lost power for a couple of hours after an explosion in an underground Southern California Edison vault, officials said. Edison spokesman Bob Hull said the explosion occurred shortly after 9 a.m. in a vault in the basement of an apartment complex at 28130 Peacock Ridge Road. Los Angeles County Fire Chief Gary Henery said damage was minor.
