Mike McGee, a gallery owner and Orange County Arts Alliance official, has been named education and exhibition coordinator with the Laguna Beach Museum of Art. He will assume the new full-time post Jan. 1.

McGee’s chief duties as “programs coordinator” will be to administer the museum’s adult education, Children’s Outreach and other community-education programs, said museum director William Otton.

Also, McGee each year will organize at least one major exhibition and provide descriptive and critical writings for various exhibits, said Otton.

Although McGee will be assuming many of the duties of chief curator and education curator--two posts vacant for several months--both curator posts are to remain unfilled for the time being, said Otton.

McGee is co-owner of the Edge Gallery in Fullerton and has served as chairman of the Arts Alliance’s visual arts committee. He produced an award-winning video documentary, “Art Search,” about artworks by inmates at Chino Men’s Prison.

A fine-arts graduate of Cal State Fullerton, McGee earned his master’s degree in studio art from UC Irvine. His paintings and collages have been exhibited throughout Southern California.
