A hearing on whether to count a handful of disqualified ballots in the Vista redevelopment election has been scheduled for 9 a.m. Dec. 23, an attorney in the case said Tuesday.
William Wittke, an attorney representing a group of civic leaders challenging the defeat of a proposal to create a redevelopment agency, said a Vista Superior Court judge will evaluate the request that the ballots be counted.
Proposition K lost by one vote Nov. 5. Mayor Mike Flick and other redevelopment proponents contend that eight ballots invalidated by the county registrar of voters as improperly punched should have been counted.
