Surf’s Up--to 25 Feet; Oahu Contest Halted

HONOLULU —
Waves 15 to 25 feet high crashed onto the North Shore of Oahu on Tuesday, splashing onto coastal roads and causing the closure of famed surfing beaches.
One casualty of the high surf was the $25,000 Billabong Hawaiian Pro surfing tournament, scheduled to get under way in waters off the North Shore.
