Sen. Bob Kasten (R-Wis.) was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, running a red light and driving on the wrong side of the road, District of Columbia police said Friday.

Kasten, 43, was arrested Thursday near his home after a police officer saw him run a red light, police spokesman Lt. William White said. He was released after an hour and is to appear in traffic court on Feb. 4, White said.
