Special Christmas Record to Aid San Diego Shelter

Share

Its contribution to the Christmas season, Kaiser Development Co. announced in San Diego, is sponsorship of a Yuletide record whose sale profits will go to a shelter for troubled and runaway teenagers.

The 45-rpm record is “On Christmas Day,” written and sung to the 12-string guitar by Mark Putnam, a senior account executive with the Gail Stoorza Co., a San Diego public relations firm with many real estate-related accounts on its clients list. The producer is Michael Krewitsky, a studio musician and proprietor of Musicians Repair Service, who also played all keyboard, synthesizer and backup instrumental parts.

The shelter is The Bridge, a San Diego Youth and Community Services organization that provides refuge to abandoned, runaway, abused and troubled youths aged 12 to 17. An average of 140 youths a year are helped, staying at The Bridge an average of 10 days until they can be placed in foster homes or with relatives.

“The holidays are a time of rejoicing, a time for giving and a time for all people to share in the true spirit of Christmas,” according to Jim Van de Water, vice president of the Industrial/Commercial Southwest Division for Kaiser. “In this spirit, we are proud to have sponsored the recording of ‘On Christmas Day,’ which will raise funds for a very worthwhile cause.”

The records are on sale for $2 at many record stores, including Tower Records near the city’s Sports Arena and Musicland at Horton Plaza; through The Bridge or the Stoorza Co., or by mail (for $3 to cover postage and handling) from Avocado Records, “On Christmas Day,” P. O. Box 1071, Cardiff by the Sea 92007.
