Actor Dan Haggerty, who starred in the “Life and Times of Grizzly Adams” television series, was sentenced in Los Angeles federal court to 10 days in jail on two counts of failing to file federal income tax returns. Haggerty, 43, also was ordered to file all delinquent tax returns and to pay all taxes due the government. “I want you to set a good example for all the young people . . . that you can take your medicine,” U.S. Magistrate John R. Kronenberg told the actor. Kronenberg said Haggerty could serve the 10 days beginning April 14 to allow more time for his left leg to heal from an injury suffered in a motorcycle accident. Haggerty also was given a suspended six-month jail term and placed on two years’ probation. Haggerty, who also faces a 90-day jail term on state drug charges, pleaded guilty in July to failing to pay taxes on a reported income of $563,564 in 1978 and 1981.
