Prison Inmates Free Hostages

McALESTER, Okla. —
More than 100 inmates demanding better food and conditions at a maximum security state prison went on a rampage, stabbed three guards and took seven other guards hostage before releasing their captives unharmed today.
The three guards required surgery for stab wounds. Two were in stable condition but the third was put under intensive care. Eighteen hours after the disturbance began, the inmates were quiet and being fed, a spokesman at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary said.
