Xidex acquired a Control Data subsidiary.

Xidex, a Mountain View, Calif.-based maker of data storage products, paid $65 million to acquire most of Control Data’s business products group, the two firms said. The sale, announced in November, stemmed from a consolidation at financially troubled Control Data of Minneapolis. The units bought by Xidex make and sell computer disk packs, computer tape and flexible diskettes. Only about 1,200 of 1,700 affected employees--most of whom are overseas--are assured jobs with Xidex, the firms said.
