VIDEORGY: You’ve heard the record . . . you’ve seen the clip . . . now you can see all the behind-the-scenes footage, thanks to a new home video, “The Making of Sun City,” which should hit the stores this weekend. The 45-minute compilation, which features the hit video clip as well as artist interviews and recording session footage, will sell for $19.95, with proceeds going to the Africa Fund, a UN-sponsored relief organization that aids political prisoners in South Africa and exiles now in the United States and other countries. The video is distributed by Karl-Lorimar Home Video. . . . If you want to see a fascinating history of L.A.’s new-wave scene, Rhino Video has just released a two-volume highlight series of the fabled low-budget cable TV classic, New Wave Theatre. The ground-breaking show, hosted by the late, great Peter Ivers, features manic performances by everyone from X and the Circle Jerks to the Blasters and the Surf Punks. Both 60-minute videos are priced at $29.98. . . . And this month’s “Cutting Edge” video program, which airs next Sunday at 7:30 p.m. on MTV, will feature highlights from a recent Alarm concert; previously unreleased video footage of R.E.M., the Bangles and the Minutemen; and New Year’s predictions from such pop seers as Henry Rollins, Trouble Funk, Nina Hagen, Peter Case, X, Rodney Bingenheimer and the Washington Squares.
