Cypress : 5 Youths in Custody in Cemetery Incident
Five Los Angeles County youths are in custody and sixth is being sought by police in connection with a grave-robbing incident early Monday at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cypress.
According to Police Lt. Bob Vandurraga, the suspects were found on the roof of a cemetery building by police responding to a silent alarm about 12:40 a.m.
The cremated remains of two persons taken from two crypts that had been broken into were recovered, Vandurraga said. He said it had not been determined why the remains had been stolen.
As the suspects were being taken into custody, Vandurraga said, one of them managed to break free and escape.
Being held in Orange County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail each on charges of unlawfully removing human remains were Sean Erick Dunn, 18, and Daniel Ogden Bufford, 18, both of Lakewood, and Jose Juan Gonzalez, 19, and Julian Alcala, 19, both of Hawaiian Gardens. A fifth suspect, a juvenile, is in custody at Juvenile Hall.
