Two San Diego men who are suspects in at least 20 downtown burglaries during the last five months are to be arraigned this week on burglary charges, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
Jimmy L. Amerison, 38, and Ricki L. Brook (also known as Michael Braxton), 30, were arrested Thursday outside their apartment near the 1300 block of 5th Avenue, said Robinson. The two were roommates.
Both Brook and Amerison are suspected of having stolen more than $30,000 in cash and merchandise from 20 safes at businesses in an area bounded by 4th, 5th and 6th avenues, and Ash and Market streets, Robinson said.
“They would case the stores during the day, looking for alarm systems, then they would break in at night,” he said. The two are in County Jail downtown.
