A moderate earthquake shook part of northeastern Bavaria near the East German border Tuesday, damaging a house but causing no casualties, Bavarian state police said.

The quake, the second in the border region in four days, measured 4.5 on the Richter scale. The tremor affected an area in and around the towns of Selb and Rehau, about 62 miles northeast of Nuremberg. One house in Selb sustained a 10-foot crack in its roof, police said.

A tremor on Saturday measured 5.1 on the Richter scale and caused light building damage in Hof, the largest town in the region, authorities said.
