West German mothers-in-law are more popular than ever, apparently because they’re younger these days, according to results of a nationwide poll.

A survey conducted by the Wickert Institute showed that 69% of West German spouses like their mothers-in-law.

Of the 3,033 people surveyed over the past two weeks, 67% of husbands and 70% of the wives said they liked their mothers-in-law.

Only 14% said they could not get along with their mothers-in-law, while another 17% refused to give their opinion.

According to the institute, those who refused to give a reply said they were either afraid of their mothers-in-law or declined to give an opinion out of courtesy.
