Thumb Down

Thanks a lot for printing Ken Lemen’s suggestion (Letters Dec. 18) to show respect and admiration to seniors by giving them a smile and a “thumb up.” The first old woman I passed to whom I gave a big smile and a “thumb up” hit me with her purse and yelled: “rotten punker.”
