PITTSBURGH —
A man awaiting the first operation to simultaneously transplant six organs died Tuesday of complications from internal disorders, Presbyterian-University Hospital said.
Herbert G. Seal, 37, of Pekin, Ind., had recently experienced failure of his lungs, kidneys and liver, making him too unstable for kidney dialysis or a transplant of his large and small intestines, stomach, liver, pancreas and spleen. The organs had not become available in two months of waiting, hospital spokesman Tom Chakurda said.
