Jet Overshoots Runway, Ends Up Mired in Mud

ROMULUS, Mich. — An American Airlines DC-10 carrying 248 people overshot a runway at Detroit’s Metropolitan Airport, winding up mired in six to eight inches of snow and mud, an airline spokesman said today.
There were no injuries aboard Flight 192 from Los Angeles to Detroit via Chicago, the airline said. The aircraft got stuck at 11:30 p.m. Thursday, and all those aboard were in the terminal by 1 a.m.
