Police arrested 34 anti-nuclear demonstrators Friday on trespassing charges at the entrance of the classified Nevada Test Site, home of the nation’s atomic testing program.

A spokesman for the Nevada Desert Experience, organizers of a two-day vigil at the Energy Department facility, said 182 people took part in a three-hour demonstration.

Roman Catholic Bishop Thomas Gumbleton of Detroit was among those taking part in the vigil, but he did not cross a line drawn by the Energy Department and was not among those cited by law enforcement officials.

The demonstrators urged President Reagan to join with Soviet Union officials and permanently halt nuclear testing.
