Instead, Previn gives us a straightforward, no-nonsense account in vivid, crystalline sound. The CD sound is particularly appreciated with Ravel’s flowing music since details of his subtle orchestration sometimes get lost in analog reproduction. The orchestra, chorus and singers (with the exception of Wyner’s ragged voice) perform admirably.
