One man died and another was wounded in a gang-related shooting outside a convenience store near N. Avenue 52 and Figueroa Street. The dead man is Peter Herrera, 24, of Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles Police Lt. Ken Welty, officer in charge of the Central Bureau’s anti-gang CRASH unit. Welty said Herrera had gang tattoos, which might have been recognized by members of a rival gang in the store where Herrera and a companion, Manuel Rodriguez, stopped about 3 a.m. Herrera and Rodriguez were followed out of the store to their car, where several shots were fired at them, police said. No one has been arrested. Rodriguez was reported in stable condition at County-USC Medical Center.
