Proposal to Sell FHA

Share

Is it too much to expect that the Reagan Administration at least respect clear success in government programs, when such does occur? Apparently so.

The FHA is perhaps the most successful social program of the national government, supporting the “pro-family” goal of home ownership. So, the tentative 1987 budget would sell it off.

The Agricultural Extension Service is perhaps the most successful “industrial policy” measure that we have (along with its counterpart, the land-grant college system), having played a major part in building our astonishing agricultural productivity. So the Administration would eliminate it.
