Trio-Tech agreed to purchase a testing company.

The definitive agreement calls for Trio-Tech International, a Burbank manufacturer of semiconductor testing equipment, to pay $14 million in cash for MQS Inspection, a Chicago-based industrial- testing concern with 20 laboratories nationwide. Trio-Tech said MQS’ sales exceeded $19 million last year. GEO International, the Stamford, Conn.-based parent of MQS, said the purchase price is more than eight times MQS’ earnings.
