Assembly Bills Introduced:

Death Penalty: AB2598 by Assemblyman Ross Johnson (R-La Habra) would withhold the salaries of state Supreme Court justices if they had not ruled on a death penalty appeal within the required period of 150 days.

Campaign Fund Transfers: AB2587 by Assemblyman Stan Statham (R-Oak Run) would prohibit the transfer of campaign funds from one legislative candidate to another.

Latino History: AB2599 by Assemblyman Charles M. Calderon (D-Alhambra) would create a California Museum of Latino History within the state Resources Agency to be operated by a charitable or educational corporation.

Lottery: AB2606 by Assemblyman Tom Bane (D-Tarzana) would prohibit a welfare recipient from purchasing a state lottery ticket or receiving any prize awarded by the California Lottery Commission.

Senate Bills Introduced:

AIDS: SB1478 by Sen. John Doolittle (R-Citrus Heights) would require marriage license applicants to file results of a blood test to detect antibodies that show a person has been exposed to the virus that causes AIDS.
