A San Diego woman revealed in court Wednesday that she received $10,000 in reward money offered for information leading to a suspect in the Anne Swanke slaying.
Diana O’Grady testified before San Diego Superior Court Judge Franklin Orfield during pretrial motions for David Lucas, 30, who is charged with Swanke’s slaying and five other murders.
O’Grady filed a lawsuit Aug. 20 against the San Diego Crime Commission; its director, Roger Young, and the University of San Diego alleging breach of contract, fraud and deceit.
O’Grady told defense attorney Alex Landon that she settled the suit recently for $10,000 and that her attorney received some of the money for his fee. The total reward offered was $26,000.
She said she learned some information from her property manager in El Cajon that she forwarded to Capt. James Malloy of the San Diego police on Dec. 14, 1984. She did not say what that information was, but said that she believed that it led to Lucas’ arrest two days later.
