By pressing your face, or any other part of your body, against the hundreds of tiny pins in this metal and plexiglass contraption, you can create a three-dimensional metallic sculpture that lasts until you tilt PinPressions and start over again. The potential sculptures are endless--faces, hands, ears. . . .

“It’s something you can sit and play with,” said Nancy Popejoy, a PinPressions owner. “It’s just a fun, little nothing, expensive gift.”

Barry Benjamin, whose company, With Design in Mind, manufactures and markets PinPressions, said the idea for the toy came from a Russian animated film that used the same technique of closely spaced pins.

Until recently, PinPressions has been sold only as a limited-edition gift at the seemingly unlimited price of $150. But to appeal to fun seekers with a limited cash flow, the Chatsworth company now plans to sell the gadget for $59 in stores throughout Los Angeles.
