Clippers to Play Nets in New Jersey Tonight
The Clippers, still working on trades that would send Norm Nixon to the New York Knicks and bring in Darnell Valentine from Portland, will continue their seven-game trip tonight against the New Jersey Nets.
General Manager Carl Scheer planned to meet with Knick General Manager Scotty Stirling Thursday night to work out a Nixon-for-Darrell Walker trade. Knick reserve center Ken Bannister also has been mentioned in the deal.
Should that trade be completed, the Clippers (11-25) would then acquire Valentine from the Trail Blazers for a swap of 1987 draft choices.
