Clippers to Play Nets in New Jersey Tonight

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The Clippers, still working on trades that would send Norm Nixon to the New York Knicks and bring in Darnell Valentine from Portland, will continue their seven-game trip tonight against the New Jersey Nets.
General Manager Carl Scheer planned to meet with Knick General Manager Scotty Stirling Thursday night to work out a Nixon-for-Darrell Walker trade. Knick reserve center Ken Bannister also has been mentioned in the deal.
Should that trade be completed, the Clippers (11-25) would then acquire Valentine from the Trail Blazers for a swap of 1987 draft choices.
