Hollywood Plan to Go Before Commission

The next major step toward Hollywood’s redevelopment plan will be taken Thursday when the Los Angeles Planning Commission conducts a review of the plan’s details.

The Community Redevelopment Agency will present the plan to the commission at a meeting beginning at 9 a.m. at Los Angeles City Hall in Planning Commission Room 350.

City Planning Director Calvin Hamilton also will present his department’s views on the plan. The Planning Department and the redevelopment agency have been at odds over several items.

The Planning Commission may also take public testimony on the redevelopment plan, and is expected to decide by Jan. 23 whether to allow the plan to proceed on to the City Council for final approval.

For the past 18 months, redevelopment agency planners and members of a citizens advisory committee have worked on the redevelopment plan, which is expected to cost between $572 million and $920 million and take 30 years to implement. The redevelopment agency tentatively approved the plan last December.
