Act of True Concern

Share

Recently I attended a meeting in Los Angeles with a friend of mine. After we concluded our meeting, we had an hour to waste before our train left for San Diego. We decided to take a walk through Chinatown.

As we were walking, a small boy broke from his mother’s hand and ran out into the street. Before I realized what was happening, my friend ran out into the street, grabbed the child, and threw the two of them out of the way of incoming traffic.

My friend never thought to look and check traffic. His only concern was to take the child out of harm’s way. After returning the child to his mother, my friend continued walking down the street as if nothing had happened.

Every once in a while we read about people such as my friend. Seldom do we have the opportunity to personally witness acts of true concern for the safety of others.

My friend’s name is Supervisor Paul Eckert.
