La Palma : Fortune-Telling Permit Ordinance on Agenda

City Council members tonight are expected to consider an ordinance requiring owners of fortune-telling parlors to obtain a conditional-use permit.
Like other cities throughout the state, La Palma repealed its ban on fortune-telling practices after a Supreme Court decision held that city ordinances banning such activities are unconstitutional.
A conditional-use permit costs $350, according to Mary O’Neil, assistant city manager and city clerk. La Palma does not now have any fortune-telling parlors.
In other business, the council is expected to consider how to replace City Manager Kenneth Rowe, who announced his resignation last December to become city manager of Chino.
