Redondo : Council OKs Hotel Plan

Share

The City Council this week approved plans for a 28-room hotel on the second and third floors of a building under construction at 117 Avenue I. When the council originally approved the project three years ago, the two floors were designated as business offices.

The change was made at the request of owners William and Betty Syfers and Ronald and Sharon Kielar and was recommended by the Planning Department and the Planning Commission.

Planning officials said the project at the corner of Avenue I and South Catalina Avenue would be less disruptive to nearby residences if the offices were eliminated. “The proposed hotel, with its greatly reduced traffic flow and semi-residential character, should have far less potential for adverse impact on the adjacent residential properties,” a planning report said.
