The City Council has presented a plaque to Roy Buchan, a retired engineer with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, in recognition of his work in supervising building and safety inspections for the city of Bradbury.

Buchan, 66, who lives in Sierra Madre and is on the City Council there, worked as a district engineer with the county for 35 years, mostly in the West San Gabriel Valley. He retired Jan. 3. Buchan said he plans to become a consulting engineer.

Ann O’Brien, administrative assistant for Bradbury, said Buchan was honored because he “was very helpful and always came to our rescue when we needed it.”
