Parking Costs at Angels Stadium

Share

I’ve been an Angels’ season ticket holder with parking for six years. Every year, like the rest of the dedicated fans, I’ve reluctantly accepted the fact that the cost of attending the sport I love most will undoubtedly rise. Until now I’ve accepted each increase without giving it a second thought. But this year, the City of Anaheim has given me a reason to give that second thought.

In addition to the 50-cent per event increase passed along to the general public, the city has also imposed another 75-cent per event increase on those of us who enjoy the privilege and convenience of season parking. I can’t help thinking they are trying to find a way to recoup some of the $1 million already spent in attorney fees to defend their case against Gene Autry and the California Angels regarding who has what rights to the parking and the land on which these spaces are located.

However, if these parking increases are any indication that Gene is winning this legal battle, then I suppose that just like any other year, I will again reluctantly accept the increase without giving it a second thought. But what happens if this battle continues to linger in the courts? How much will it cost us, the dedicated fans, to park next season?
