Ourasi, a French horse driven by Jean-Rene Gougeon, won the Prix d’Amerique, France’s premier trotting race, at Vincennes Racetrack Sunday. It was a record-tying sixth Prix d’Amerique victory for Gougeon. Alexandre Finn also drove six winners in the event.

The triumph earned Ourasi’s owners $146,000.

Second was Mon Tourbillion of France, followed by the Italian-owned Micron Hanover.

A crowd of more than 25,000 saw the race, run in crisp weather under sunny skies.

Mon Tourbillon broke into a long lead of more than seven lengths over the rest of the field of 18 trotters. But as the horses came down the stretch, Ourasi increased speed and won going away by two lengths.

The 6-year-old Ourasi entered 13 races last year, winning nine. His last previous outing was a win in the Prix de Belgique.
