Fullerton : Group to Honor First Latino Judge in County
Jaime Perez, Orange County’s first Latino judge, will be honored as Man of the Year by the Serafines (Angels) de Orange County, a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships for underprivileged youth.
Perez, a 59-year-old Mexican-American, was appointed to the Municipal Court bench in 1966 by then-Gov. Edmund G. Brown. Perez was elevated to the Superior Court in December, 1975.
Perez, a Fullerton resident, will be honored at a dinner and dance with proceeds going to help pay scholarships. The event will be held Feb. 22 at the Saddleback Inn in Santa Ana. Tickets are $30. Tickets can be bought by calling Serafines President Manuel Esqueda at (714) 542-4579.
